Ahead of Banksy’s UK nationwide film release on 5th March 2010, a pop-up cinema is showing ‘Exit Through the Gift Shop’.
Lambeth Palace is situated in Leake Street, under Waterloo train station and features infamous Banksy installations and animatronics. The same tunnel hosted the Banksy Cans Festival in 2008.
Exit through the Gift Shop is a documentary of how an eccentric French shopkeeper, Thierry Guetta, turned documentary maker attempted to locate and befriend Banksy, only to have the artist turn the camera back on its owner with spectacular results. The film contains exclusive footage of Banksy, Shephard Fairey, Invader and many of the world’s most infamous graffiti artists at work, on walls and in interview.
Banksy himself describes the film as “the story of how one man set out to film the un-filmable. And failed”.
