Paris: Faile ‘Meet Me Halfway’

Brooklyn-based duo Patrick McNeil and Patrick Miller a.k.a FAILE are exhibiting for the first time in Paris at Magda Danysz Gallery.

The show titled ‘Meet Me Halfway’ presents a large range of media, from paintings, collages and stencils and works on carved wood featuring their signature iconography: Faile’s Dogs, Wolves, Bunnies, Ballerinas, NYC, the presence of the 1986 Challenger spaceship and more.

In parallel, the prolific duo also created a large scale mural in the 13th district of Paris as well as a few stencils in the streets of Paris.

London: Masters of Urban Art @ Magda Danysz

Magda Gallery - London Project

Following her success in Paris and Shangai, French gallerist Magda Danysz recently launched a pop-up gallery space in London called the London Project for a duration of 100 days (covered here).

While the lower ground floor is dedicated to in-situ installations by international artists and evolving across the 100 days, the first floor is currently hosting an exhibition entitled The Masters of Urban Art.

Participating artists include: Banksy, Blek Le Rat, Futura, Jef Aerosol, JonOne, L’Atlas, Obey, Pure Evil, Remi Rough (pictured), Space Invader, Sten & Lex, West and Yz.

Magda Danysz - London Project

After Paris (since 1999) and Shanghai (since 2009),  French gallery owner Magda Danysz is opening a London exhibition space for the next 4 months in the North of Soho. The ‘London Project is set to be a unique experience into contemporary art.

Within the last decade, Magda Danysz Gallery has been presenting artworks by emerging and talented artists who have since became key players of the international scene of contemporary art, such as OBEY, JR, Space Invader, Vhils, Futura, Erwin Olaf or Prune Nourry or Chinese rising stars such as Yang Yongliang and Liu Bolin, among others.

The London Project is a continuation of iconic projects curated by the Gallery such as Les Bains Douches in Paris, back in 2013 (covered here), or Look Through in the historic Bund18 building in Shanghai, in 2014. Magda Danysz London’s exhibition space aims at hosting regular shows presenting painting, sculpture, photographs from various and renowned artists.

The current artists on show in London include Sten & Lex (IT), Zhou Hongbin (CH), L’Atlas (FR), Jonone (USA), Stephane Bisseul (FR),  Bai Guanghua (CH), Blek Le Rat (FR), Futura (USA), Alain Delorme (FR), Gael Davrinche (FR), Zhand Dali (CH), Peikwen Cheng (CH), Feng Fangyu (CH), YZ (FR), Yang Yongliang (CH). 

With a large set of basements and vaults, the exhibition space is also devoted to a secret artistic project, giving carte blanche to major and iconic artists as they take over each and every inches of the space for unique collaborative artwork. The opening revealed creations and in-situ installations by French artist Yz, as well as UK artists Remi Rough, Pure Evil and Crossie. 

With live artworks over a period of four months, the London Project will organise private visits for a limited public to witness the creative process and the various techniques before being fully unveiled at the end of this project.

Paris: Vhils – Vestiges

Vhils - Vestiges

After completing his walls for the Paris Nuit Blanche (Covered here), Portugese artist Vhils just opened a new solo show ‘Vestiges‘ at Magda Danyz gallery. Engraving portraits and abstract patterns on cork, metal, wood and paper, Vhils continue to explore the city and its habitants’memory.

Paris: Futura – Introspective

Futura - Introspective
In parallel to his recent intervention at Palais de Tokyo ( covered here) NYC graffiti legend Futura opened a new solo exhibition in Paris at Magda Danysz Gallery. Titled “Introspection“, the show features a new body of works from his street influenced abstractions, large scale paintings with colourful atom and elliptic patterns, drawings depicting his signature pointman character. Taking a step further, Futura also presented a selection of digitally manipulated photos.
