London: VNA 16 Launch Party

Thursday 8th September saw the launch of the eagerly awaited issue 16 of Very Nearly Almost magazine. The new issue features Invader, Chu, Dead Sea Mob, Kid Zoom, Will Barras, as well as street photos from different cities. I was happy to contribute and discover interviews from the different artists.

This time, a special VNA 16 limited edition with a screenprinted cover has been signed by Invader. The pack also contains a series of VNA/Invader stickers, within a shiny silver screenprinted enveloppe. No wonder a growing crowd started to queue from the early afternoon at Pictures on Walls to get one of the 80 from the special edition made available for the launch party.

Opening: Boxi – Time of the Signs

Last October, Berlin based artist Boxi painted a large wall in London with his hyperrealistic style combining multi-layered stencils.

London: Nuevo Mundo book launch at POW

I attended the London book launch party for Nuevo Mundo at Pictures on Walls. The book provides a comprehensive documentation of current street art in Latin America from Argentina, Brazil, Central America, Chile, Columbia, Cuba, Ecuador, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela.

The author, Maximilliano Ruiz, as well as many of the artists featured in the book (Thiago Alvim, Yusk, Don Lucho, Inti, Kelp, Saile, Stinkfish, Jorge Rodriguez-Gerada, Buytronik, Cix, Mones, Basik, Jade Physe Wesr) were present at the event to sign and personalise books.

Opening: Charming Baker

Returning to London, Charming Baker new solo show is taking place at the Mercer Street Studios, an old banana warehouse in Covent Garden from 7th-31st July 2011.

The exhibition titled “Every Thing Must Go” is showcasing new paintings as well as a collection of bronze busts.

Opening: C215 & RomanyWG Border Line at Signal Gallery

For the “Border Line” show at Signal Gallery, C215 is exhibiting his stencils together with photographer Jeremy Gibbs aka RomanyWG.

Since the past 5 years, RomanyWG has been documenting street art and graffiti and recently joined the ‘Urbex community’ with its exploration of abandoned buildings and industrial facilities.  RomanyWG is showing photographs both from C215’s ‘Community Service’ book and also his recently released ‘Out of Sight’ Urban Art/Abandoned Spaces book.
